The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has announced a 48-member team representing India at the biggest global platform of skills excellence, the WorldSkills International Competition 2019, to be held in Kazan, Russia from 22nd to the 27th of August 2019. The competition sees participation from over 1,500 competitors from 60 countries across 55 skill areas. Of these, India will compete in 44 diverse skills; from baking, hairdressing, car painting, bricklaying, to prototype modeling and mobile robotics.

Since 2011, the National Skill Development Corporation has been leading the Indian delegation at this global event. Last year, India finished 19th out of 56 countries, its best performance ever.
The selection of the Indian team starts at the national stage – the IndiaSkills Competitions which was held in October 2018. The winners have since been honing their skills for the WorldSkills through intense training with master trainers and experts supported by over 100 corporates and education institutes such as Pearl Academy, Maruti Suzuki, Berger Paints, Daikin etc.
