Teachers demand hike in reservation for agri vocational students

An appeal for enhanced seat reservation for vocational science students in agriculture and horticulture from 5% to 15% in higher education has been made to the government of Trichy by the Association for Agriculture Graduate Teachers. This increase in reservation is said to help rural students aspiring to apply to agricultural colleges. Only 47 seats, that amount to the 5% reservation, are held for students in the entire state of Tamil Nadu. The teachers’ recruitment board of the state only appoints those with a diploma from horticulture or agriculture science institutes. Students who choose this field of study only have the option to pursue BSc in agriculture. Read more.


BPCL Opens 87 Apprentice Engineers Positions, Monthly Stipend Up To Rs 25,000

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd or BPCL is conducting an online recruitment program where graduates and diploma engineers are welcome to apply for 87 apprenticeship positions – 45 for diploma engineers and 42 for graduate engineers. Selected candidates will be offered a one-year contract according to the Apprentice Amendment Act 1973. The vacancies for graduate apprentices require the candidate to have completed the degree full-time with a 6.3 CGPA. The vacancies for diploma apprentices will need at least 60 per cent marks in their full-time diploma degree to be eligible to apply. WFA culture affecting employability rates in urban centres

CN Ashwath Narayan, the skills development minister of Karnataka expressed, his concern over the culture of Working From Anywhere (WFA) and how it is affecting the attempts in increasing employability rates with training and other opportunities in urban centers.
