Standing committee report suggests to enhance NAPS stipend for apprentices

The government has received suggestions from the skills development standing committee to increase apprentices’ stipends by fairly large extent under the NAPS or the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme to put back parity with the stipend for those given for technical courses that’s come under the apprenticeship scheme of Ministry of Education. “Once the minimum monthly stipend of Rs 9,000 for graduate apprentices and Rs 8,000 for diploma apprentices is assured invariably, the department of higher education then should raise the matter with the ministry of finance for enhancing the monthly stipend amount to Rs 18,000 for the graduate engineers and Rs 15,000 for the diploma holders,” suggested the committee in its report to the Parliament. SECL to impart skill development training to 520 shortlisted youth

According to an official press release by SECL or South Eastern Coalfields Limited, 520 shortlisted youths from the coal mining districts of Raigarh, Korba, Sarajpur, and Ambikapur in Chattisgarh will receive skill development training, funded by the CSR department of the SECL. CIPET or Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology in Korba and Raipur will be executing the six-month course, provided free of cost to the trainees. Th release also talked about a pilot project initiative under the various skill development courses conducted by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers for the youth in CIPET Raipur where 40 students were successfully placed after course completion. Deputy CM inaugurates healthcare centre at DSEU

Allied Medical and Paramedical Sciences, a healthcare centre, has been launched at the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University or the DSEU by the Delhi government with the aim of strengthening the healthcare system. This centre, inaugurated by Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM, is said to offer courses to provide world-class healthcare education. “DSEU is the fastest growing university of India. It has redefined skill education. There is a mindset deeply ingrained in our society that skill education is always the last resort. Of the 2.5 Lac students passing out from Class XII, only one lakh are able to make it to good colleges. Flipkart, and e-commerce giant, released a statement revealing the establishment of Flipkart Foundation in order to support access to market for the under-served communities, community development, skill development, livelihood opportunities, entrepreneurship, and environmental responsibility initiatives. Tripura DSD to conduct skill gap and impact assessments to improve youth employability 

In order to evaluate the success of the many training programmes for the unemployed youth in the state of Tripura, the government’s Directorate of Skill Development of DSD has planned to carry out impact assessment to understand the impact of the training programmes run in the state for the unemployed youth and skill gap studies to understand emerging employment trends, priority sectors, opportunities, and sectors requiring skilled manpower over the coming five years. Mazars Advisory LLP has been awarded to mandate these two studies by the Directorate. The Associate Partner of Government Services for Mazars Advisory LLP, Dr Sanjay Bhardwaj, said, “The aim and scope of the studies are to offer a detailed roadmap to the government to empower the youth in the state with necessary skills and help with the right kind of opportunity.” “The report will involve an assessment across many sectors.
