Skilling Opportunities in Electronics

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology recently released a draft of the National Policy on Electronics 2018 (NPE), which aims to achieve a turnover of USD 400 billion in the domestic electronics manufacturing industry by 2025. The focus is towards a major export-oriented shift, such as to export 600 million mobile handsets valued at USD 110 billion giving impetus to initiatives such as Make in India.

Speaking on what lies ahead for skilling in electronics, Mr. Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman of Electronics Sector Skill Council of India, and Co-Founder of HCL Infosystems, highlighted how the Indian electronics market is poised to create job opportunities and the role of skilling in the growing Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in India.
