The Visakhapatnam Central Jail has taken up an initiative to rebuild the lives of the prisoners with skill training. The central jail offers various skill development courses like welding, plumbing, tailoring, furniture making, etc.

This training is designed to help improve prisoners’ skills. National Skill Development Corporation, Delhi, arranges these skill development training to the prisoners for a period of 45 to 90 days. On completion, the inmates are certified, so they can apply for jobs in companies post their release. The jail has its own bakery, furniture making unit, kitchen garden, and dairy farm for the training of the inmates.
