Under the sponsorship of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme, a two-day international conference on skills for the clothing sector was organized by the Alagappa Institute of Skill Development of Alagappa University, Karaikudi.

During the event, the University Vice-Chancellor N.Rajendran mentioned that the clothing industry is one of its kind and also one of the oldest ones in the country that contributes a lion share to the Indian economy. He mentioned that after agricultural sector, clothing is the largest industry that contributes to the country’s economy.
