PM CARES for Children to provide free education, monthly stipend for children who lost parents to Covid-19
The centre, along with the ministry of women and child development, has announced some measures for children who have lost parents or guardians to Covid-19 infection between the period of March 11, 2020 and December 31, 2021 under the ‘PM CARES for Children’ scheme. These measures include free school education, health coverage as per Ayushman Bharat scheme, assistance in getting higher studies loans, and a monthly stipend after the age of 18. This scheme will continue until every identified beneficiary turns 23 years, as per the guidelines. Earlier this year in May, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made an announcement that the centre will be providing support to children who lost both parents, or guardians due in the pandemic. Skill development to be core of all government schemes, says Piyush Goyal
Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, stressed on the importance of skill development as being the core of all government schemes while addressing a webinar on ‘Sabka Prayas: Collective Partnership’. With the implementation of the New Education Policy or the NEP, Goyal also said that the government is striving to raise the quality of higher education by collaborating with international universities. Ambitious project to upskill students in Andhra Pradesh
The State government of Andhra Pradesh, along with Microsoft Corporation (India), has taken up a proposal to upskill students on a massive scale. Across 300 colleges and skill development centres have over 162000 students who are unemployed and can benefit from this proposed programme that will be rolled out by the AP State Council of Higher Education or the APSCHE. A designated amount of ₹30.79 crore has been kept aside for the implementation of this programme. Read more.
