International Youth Day is meant to reflect on one of the most serious issues concerning our young people and that is the growing number of those that are neither in employment nor in education and training.

India, at present, is home to the largest population of youth in the world. The latest estimates show that they comprise around 27 percent of the total Indian population of 1.3 billion. However, a major positive development has been their growing enrolment in the secondary and tertiary level of education, which has resulted in better-skilled employees and the proliferation of decent employment in many countries around the world.
