The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) has collaborated with Lighthouse Communities Foundation, a Pune-based organization. Together, they will set up centres near slum clusters. This will be aimed at helping youngsters develop skills for better employability. Lighthouse Communities Foundation is a non-profit organization. They will initially launch 4 centres at Kalkaji, Malkaganj, Matia Mahal and Patparganj. These centres will be called ‘Lighthouses’. The trainees enrolled will acquire necessary skills for improved employability which will help them make informed life choices. The same project when launched in Pune has successfully employed 5,500 youths. A similar trend is expected to occur in Delhi. Read more.

Emotional stress to be relieved through yoga at juvenile centres

Juvenile centres is initiating a yoga training programme. The programme hopes to bring more mental stability for the girls of the centres. It is aimed at residents dealing with emotional issues in life. The centre also hopes that one day they might be able to turn it into a livelihood. It was introduced by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurveda University and Rajasthan ILD Skill University, Jaipur. It initiated with providing a six-month certificate course in yoga to 25 girls. After completion the girls have the option to become yoga instructors or pursue their education further. Having started in October 2020, they hope to continue the programme with a wider audience.
