India’s various skilling schemes

20 Central Ministries/Departments are present Under Skill India Mission in India. Through these Central Ministries/Departments, the government has implemented 40 skill development schemes/programmes. These departments provide a variety of skill development training programmes. Currently, about 556.1 Lakhs persons have been trained through the same. employment under PMKVY and NAPS since 2019 have been provided to 10,49,621 candidates. By encouraging various projects involving substantial investment and increasing public expenditure on schemes like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojna (DDU-GKY), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), and Deendayal Antodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), the government was able to increase employment in India. Read more.


Vocational training is the future

With the fourth industrial revolution, the challenges and skillsets of all jobs have differed greatly. Currently, the emphasis is on technology-based expertise requiring a higher-skilled workforce. Skill development, training, and schemes are vital for a country’s growth and competitiveness. India currently follows the Macaulay system of education and has been doing the same for a while now. This system makes youth bereft of proper skill training resulting in high unemployment. Thus the future should focus on strong foundational skills as well as specific skills for jobs. Read more.

Five paramedical courses will be available in Lakshadweep

Being on par with the Skill India Mission of the Government of India, the Lakshadweep administration has also taken various steps to help out their employment rates. Focusing on the health sector of Lakshadweep a Paramedical College is going to be set up at Kavaratti. Kavaratti being the capital of the islands will give fresh energy to the health sector. Five paramedical courses including Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Diploma in X-ray Technology, Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology, Certificate in Ophthalmic Assistant, and CT Scan Technician will be available at Kavaratti. Panasonic Life Solutions will develop the electrician community in India

Business Wire India Panasonic Life Solutions India is one of the largest manufacturers of electrical construction materials (ECM) in India. Panasonic Life Solutions aims to provide skill development training to electricians and prepare them for the best practices in the electrical industry. The program is called the Anchor Certified Electrician (ACE) training program. ACE will upskill and develop the electrician community in India. The ACE program will be first initiated in Bangalore. It already has the success rate of 50+ electricians having been trained and certified. Read more.
