A recent study conducted by researchers from two institutes in Bengaluru, the National Institute of Advanced Studies and the Institute for Social and Economic Change revealed that the implementation of the Skill India policy has not sufficiently anchored the reality of India’s political economy.

The study titles “India’s changing cityscapes: Work, Migration and Livelihoods” was funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research says that skills training is pushing the “needy young people” into informalized and low paying jobs. This might not be helping them to get a better economic future or social mobility.
