IGnITE or the Indo-German Initiative for Technical Education is a new joint venture by Siemens Limited, along with the ‘Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development’ of the Federal Republic of Germany and ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit’ (GIZ) GmbH.

This initiative, with the complete support from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship aspires to create an industry-and-future-ready skilled workforce based on the German Dual Vocational Educational Training (DVET) model.

Among many other focus areas of IGnITE, the initiative will also focus on upskilling of instructors of Government Industrial Training Institutes, improving pedagogy, enhancing employability, and so on. Siemens is confident about the initiative and their ultimate aim is to support India’s vision of being a global manufacturing leader.
