The pandemic left around 10 million people jobless! But amidst the chaos it created, now the government is working on developing certification programs, which could enhance the chances of landing a job. In the current scenario where the employment market is slowly getting in shape after the downfall, getting upskilled or acquiring new-age skills is the only way forward.

The first step will be to identify highly demanding skills as well as outdated skills, and that will be done by an industry-wide mapping. In the initial appraisal, most potential areas include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Data Analytics.

Sources reveal that these programs would be incorporated into the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), through the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
