A total of 73 lakh candidates have been trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) between 2016 and 2020 and 40% of the total candidates are women. And 90% of the trainees in Jan Sikshan Sansthans are women.

PMKVY strives to promote increased participation of women in the workforce through appropriate skilling and gender mainstreaming of skills. These training programs are not only helping in skilling but they are also sensitive to women’s needs by providing safe transport, flexible schedules, and childcare support. The winners of the competitions held especially for women across multiple trades and various programs initiated under the Skill India Mission are certified.
