Free training on weaving, embroidery and tailoring for destitute women

An apprenticeship programme was launched by the Manipur State Women’s Development Corporation (MSWDC), Government of Manipur for the destitute women of the area earlier this month. The programme will focus on giving weaving and embroidery training to these women so that they can make a living for themselves. The training center was inaugurated at Potsangbam Tomal Hall Singjamei Chingamakha Ningthoujam Leikai.

S.Satyabhama Devi, Chairperson of MSWDC, mentioned during the inauguration ceremony that the Corporation has started the training center for women residing in the Imphal West District and Imphal East District. After completing this free 6-months training, all the trainees would be receiving a certificate along with a set of equipment to help them kickstart their own ventures. This programme is going to be beneficial for many women who are not having any other source of income to maintain their family. To keep their morale high, all trainees will be given a stipend too to meet their expenses during the training period.
