Framework for apprenticeships adopted by the European Council

In March of 2018, the European Council of the European Union adopted a recommendation on a framework for quality and effectiveness of apprenticeships. This framework gives a common understanding that will help member states of the EU to better develop and promote their national apprenticeship schemes.

Among other things, the recommendations list various criteria, including a written agreement documenting the rights and obligations of the apprentice, employer and the training institution (if applicable); and recognition that there should be clear results leading to recognized qualifications.
