Contrary to popular belief, an engineering apprenticeship does not require prior education or experience and it is primarily meant for people who have lost their jobs and are considering other careers, or those who have dropped out of school. Apprentices need to learn some basics of engineering and have the proper working mentality needed for such jobs.

Bagging an engineering apprenticeship might require the candidate to clear assessments by the employer on current technical skills, knowledge of mathematics and other subjects which may be essential during the apprenticeship.
