District Administration Will Be Responsible; India’s Skill Mission To Go With The Bottom-Up Approach

The Union Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has informed the district administrations to be prepared for their new, big role in the skills mission. The ministry is planning to go with a bottom-up approach, by making the district administration responsible for training the youth with skills based on demand.

As per the information received, the local admins will have to assist the Union Government by looking into the skill gaps, assessing the skill-demands, mobilization/counseling of candidates, creation of placement/apprentices’ opportunities, and so on. “You cannot do everything from Delhi and the move is well thought through,” said Praveen Kumar, secretary MSDE.
