The Economic Survey Report of J&K 2016 reported that the unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is higher than the average National Unemployment Rate. According to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) report, graduates under the age of 24 are the ones who add to the increasing unemployment figures of India, and shockingly in UT of J&K, about 23% of youngsters are unemployed.

Thus, the UT has come up with an initiative to add skill-based education at the college level, and this initiative will hopefully make the youth employable. The plan is to integrate skill education into the general education imparted at BA, B.Sc., B.Com.
