Not embracing apprenticeship leading to engineering skills gap

Engineering UK’s annual report mentions that the lack of awareness about apprenticeship programs in engineering is the root cause of UK industry’s inability to attract more people with engineering skills. According to the report, the demand for people with ‘core engineering’ skills is 124,000 annually. But, there is a shortfall of 56,000 skilled workers. The need of the hour is active participation in apprenticeship programs. But, not many people are aware of such programs.
