Educationists welcome tech education in Odia, but with rider
It has always been a struggle for those educated in vernacular-medium schools to cope up in higher education institutions. Recently, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, announced that from the academic year of 2022-23, engineering will be taught in Odia. The National Education Policy or the NEP allows for engineering colleges to offer courses in 11 regional languages – Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Assamese. India’s first ‘Skill Impact Bond’ launched, fund to benefit 50,000 youth
The National Skill Development Corporation or the NSDC aims to benefit over 50,000 youths by launching the ‘Impact Bond’ for skilling in India, which also has global partners in collaboration such as the HRH Price Charles’s British Asian Trust, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, HSBC India, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, JSW Foundation, and Dubai Cares. Involving a budget of $14.4million, the project targets 60% women and girls with the aim to equip them with skills and vocational education as well as provide them with access to wage-employment in sectors that recovering from the impact of Covid-19.
