Empowerment of the Indian Youth
As per current statistics, India has more than half of its population under the age of 25, and in a matter of 2 years, India will be known as the youngest in the world with more than 75% of its population under 25 years of age. Since they are responsible for 34% of the Indian Gross National Income, it is only understandable if they demand educational infrastructure, job opportunities, and skill development for the growth of the country, the society, and personally as well. The process of youth empowerment will build values that will equip one to lead a satisfying life while also being a contributing citizen to the developing society. They also play an active role in the sustainable development of any nation. The challenge of employment in the coming years is a major concern. Investing in human capital will promote productivity, especially in villages, and training and development is an important tool for empowerment of human resources. Read more.

Medtronic collaborates for new surgical skills lab in SKIMS, Srinagar
The Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences or SKIMS has partnered with India Medtronic Private Limited, a manufacturer of medical products, with the aim of starting a state-of-the-art surgical skills lab in Srinagar. This initiative is expected to improve the infrastructure at SKIMS and will be used in the training and development of budding surgeons to get better experience in the Jammu and Kashmir region. An e-inauguration was held and was inaugurated by Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS and the honorable Chief Secretary UT of J&K. National Education Policy- 2020 will turn India into a global knowledge superpower: Dharmendra Pradhan
During a video conference for the occasion of the 61st Foundation Day of the National Council for Educational Research and Training or the NCERT on Wednesday, the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan said in his address that the National Education Policy of 2020 will make India a global knowledge superpower. He stressed that NCERT will need to gear up and bring major transformations accordingly. Subhas Sarkar, the Minister of State for Education, also present at the occasion, revealed that about 42lac teachers were trained under the initiative of NISHTHA and that vocational and academic education need to be integrated in order to achieve success in Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. Centre calendar to UTs, states: Let gram sabhas talk asset monetization
The Centre, while drawing sample calendar for gram sabhas, suggested to all states and Union Territories in an advisory that monetization of assets need to be a part of gram sabha deliberations in order to increase own sources of revenue. According to the sample calendar, gram panchayats need to cover 71 topics in a year, grouped together in 12 different thematic areas, one or two of these thematic areas will be assigned each month. The thematic area for the month of August was the Panchayat’s Own Sources of Revenues or the OSR where gram sabhas will need to include the agenda of assets monetization, like property tax or professions tax, utility and service charges, lease of common property assets, and taking advantage of CSR funds.
