Andhra Pradesh to establish Skill Development Colleges and Universities
The Andhra Pradesh state government has decided to establish 30 Skill Development colleges and Skill Development universities in the state and has approved a budget of Rs. 1385.53 crores for the same. It is reported that these colleges and universities are likely to begin their academic sessions by 2023.
The state government has asked every state industries department to coordinate with both colleges and industries on the courses/training, to adhere to the industrial conditions.
Sources reveal that the government has already achieved the exercise of land acquisition for the skill colleges, and is intending to have one skill development college for every Lok Sabha constituency. Read more.
Rubber Skill Development Council expanding its vertical to cover a larger sector
The Rubber Skill Development Council (RSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is expanding its vertical to cover the Chemical and Petrochemicals (Plastic) sector as well.
The conversations around merging CPC vertical with RSDC started in the year 2019, but that had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions.
The Rubber Skill Development Council will be henceforth known by the name Rubber, Chemical, Petrochemical Skill Development Council (RCPSDC), and the council will provide skill training programs in the Chemical and Petrochemical (Plastic) vertical for the youth across the country. Vinod Simon, Chairman, RSDC said, “RCPSDC is poised to emerge as one of the most diversified Sector Skill Council in the country.” Read more.
