J-K government launches fair for ITI-skilled youths

The Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Department on Tuesday organised a first-of-its-kind job fair. It took place at Kathua district for ITI (Industrial Training Institute)-trained unemployed youth to combat the rising unemployment. India’s unemployment rate rose to 7.2% last month making the job fair a necessity for unemployed youth from far-flung areas.

Over 45 private industries and companies participated in the fair. They offered on-the-spot-jobs and placements in the private sector. The fair was one of several reformative measures taken towards promoting skill development in Jammu and Kashmir by the government. It focused on providing jobs for the 1,50,000 trained youth in the state in with the help of the private sector and local industry to provide employment. Read more.
