The Women ITI Canal Road and Women Polytechnic Shiv Nagar got surprise visitors from the Skill Development Department. Principal Secretary Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Director Sajjan Hussain Ganaie and Joint Director GM Bhat reviewed the institutes’ functioning, interacted with students and the institute’s principal Rajesh Gupta to gauge the quality of training and facilities being imparted to them. Students were urged to take a keen interest in their learning so they can strive to be job providers rather than job seekers.

Faculty members of the institution were encouraged to focus on industry visits, hand training and innovative techniques at par with industry houses, to prepare students for real time experiences at their respective jobs. Samoon said that the students would benefit from such experiences and exposure to industry internships would prepare them with the most relevant skills needed while they are on the job.
The director of the Skills Development Department also presented the faculty and students with details about the working and courses being offered at these institutes. He deemed Early Childhood Educator, Fashion Design & Technology, Computer Operation, Basic Cosmetology and COPA as some of the courses which have good prospects from an entrepreneurship and employment standpoint.

Another focal point of the visit was utilisation of the institutes’ infrastructure. Students and Faculty were once again encouraged by senior officials to make the most of the physical spaces, labs, classrooms and machinery available to them.
