Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, mentioned that there is a big mismatch between education and skillsets that the job market demands. This is the major reason that is affecting employability. He also added that the way labor supply and demand are matched through labor contractors does not do justice to the skill sets of people.

He highlighted that when young talent passes out from college, he/she has an expectation of ₹25,000 but the industry is prepared to pay ₹15,000 because of the lack of skills. This leads to a serious problem between education and skills that the market value and expect.
