The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has implemented schemes for the youth of India to impart employable skills through short term and long programs both in rural and urban areas across India. The program has been taken as an initiative under the Skill India Mission.

As part of this scheme, there will be three types of training:
- Short term training for fresh skilling of school or college dropout unemployed youths
- Recognition of prior learning to recognize the existing skills and
- Special Projects to address skilling requirements of groups that are underrepresented or require special initiatives and efforts.
