We had the opportunity to speak with Utkarsh Desai – GM, Human Resources at the Blue Star Limited where he shared his thoughts on apprenticeship and how his organization is leveraging it. When we asked him about the emerging trends in his organization, he said that more usage of electronics and electrical devices, robotic operations, usage of CNC machines for production, focus on safety and quality, and more usage of plastics replacing metal and wood deserve worth mentioning. He also highlighted that optimum cost and product prices with focus on quality than quantity is going to be the growth drivers for the business along with achieving high level customer satisfaction.
Upon talking about how his organization is aligned with the anticipated growth when it comes to talent, he says, “manpower planning, skill development for the existing pool, automation, and more usage of technology are the few of the factors that they are harnessing upon.”
He further added that the organization is taking several measures to create the talent pool. These include providing behavioural training, skill development for new trends, and motivating the employees for higher productivity.
On a concluding note, he added that his organization is getting a lot of benefits from the apprenticeship program. He said that there is no long-term liability and resources are easily available. He concluded saying that it is a social obligation too for the organizations.
