The Rubber, Chemical & Petrochemical Skill Development Council or the RCPSDC recently organised a Skill Meet in Chennai where Deepmala Moorjani, the Senior Manager of Industry Connect, RCPSDC revealed that there are currently more than 4,500 vacancies in the Rubber and Plastic sector for placement as well as apprentices in Tamil Nadu for the present fiscal year. With almost 6,000 plastic and rubber manufacturing industries in the state, many large players are interested in hiring. As of now, more than 15,000 apprentices have signed up for various vacancies with leading players in both the industries. The Skill Meet saw participation from 50 companies in the rubber, chemical, and petrochemical sectors.
CBSE, UNICEF, YuWaah join hands to promote skill-based learning
A new partnership among the Central Board of Secondary Education or the CBSE, UNICEF, and YuWaah will allow students to access and engage in volunteering opportunities with the aim of developing life skills and career guidance. A Passport to Earning or P2E initiative will be introduced to CBSE students for upskilling them with skills to boost employability. This programme will be introduced to the rest of the country on the success of this pilot run, after which teachers will also be trained. Nidhi Chhiber, the Chaiperson of CBSE, said about this project, “It also recommends instilling skills in students, right from the school level. Passport to Earning is one of the initiatives supported by the Board towards achieving this goal. In time, we may explore integrating P2E with the Skill Hubs Initiative of the Govt. of India. We, at CBSE, welcome this initiative as it would provide our students an opportunity to learn 21st century skills, which are very relevant in current times, and which will help in shaping them into productive citizens in the future.”
Two-Day ‘Skill Mela’ at Jowai focuses on Youth Empowerment
The Meghalaya State Skills Development Society or the MSSDS organised a two-day long ‘Skill Mela at the U Kiang Nangbah Government College Auditorium, inaugurated by Wailadmiki Shylla, the Jowai legislator and MCCL Chairman, with the aim of helping youth to be more productive with self-employment. The Skill Mela focused on connecting job seekers and employers via a Job Fair, showcasing indigenous crafts and local produce at the Haat Bazaar, and educating the youth about available avenues for skilling interventions.
Advisor Bhatnagar reviews progress skill institutes
A meeting was held to deliberate over developing Skill institutes across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir through a collaboration between the UT and Lamrin Tech Skills University or the LTSU. Attending this meeting, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, put forth many suggestions and comments. He spoke about how this collaboration will pave way for the upcoming industries in the region which will require skilled manpower. He also encouraged the University to look into the Construction, Tourism, and Hydropower sectors as well which will open maximum employment avenues once trained in high-end skills. Another suggestion the Advisor put forth was the upskilling of paramedical staff, seeing the significant growth of the same.
