The Budget 2022 for the education and skilling sector rightly focused on expanding reach, improving quality education, building capacity, and strengthening the digital skill ecosystem. Further, to brainstorm and discuss ways for effective implementation of initiatives announced in the Budget, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the Ministry of Education, along with other ministries, is organising a session in Skill India webinar themed- ‘Towards Fostering Stronger Industry-Skill Linkage,’ on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 12:15 PM to 2:15 PM. The webinar will be attended by the government officials, industry experts and representatives of key associations. The session is a part of a series of seminars being inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He will be addressing the first webinar themed on Digital University: Making World Class Higher Education Accessible for All.
Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj to launch Rural Connectivity GIS Data
Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Shri Giriraj Singh will launch Rural Connectivity GIS Data in Public Domain at 12 PM on 22nd February, 2022 in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was launched in the year 2000, with an objective to provide all-weather road connectivity to eligible unconnected habitations throughout the nation. Later on upgradation and consolidation of through routes and major rural links was also included as its objective to give fillip to the rural economy. Since inception, 7.83 lakh Km roads have been sanctioned and 6.90 lakh Km have been constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 2.69 lakh crores.
As part of the implementation of PMGSY, GIS data for 800,000+ rural facilities as points, 1 Million + habitations and 25,00,000+ km of rural roads have been collected and digitised using GIS platform developed for the scheme. The collected rural connectivity GIS data will be available to the public.
Achieving Atmanirbharta through the Amrit Mantra of Digital Education and Dynamic Skilling
As part of achieving Atmanirbharta through the Amrit Mantra of digital education and dynamic skilling, a webinar on implementation of Budget 2022 relating to education sector was organized today. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed a webinar. Concerned Union Ministers, key stakeholders from education, skill development, science, technology and research were present on the occasion. The webinar was part of the new practice of discussion and dialogue with the stakeholders before and after the budget.
